I believe by now you know that it is important to read through the course guidelines, which are in your tablet or the soft copy sent to you. If you have not, I strongly recommend you to do so right now before reading your study materials. It is important that you do so because it will provide a comprehensive outline of the materials you will cover on a Session-to-Session basis, starting with the topic you are about to study: The code of this course is MAC 115 while the title is INTRODUCTION TO NEWS REPORTING AND WRITING. This is a course that ushers you into the discipline of NEWS REPORTING AND WRITNG in mass communication and gives you a concise and appreciable understanding of the concept of news reporting in mass communication, its position and role it plays in the media organizations and the society at large. The course is packaged on a global scale with a view to positioning the you on a pedestal that would make them at par with any entrant into the field of mass communication anywhere in the world. However, some examples used are typically Nigerian in orientation and setting. Every attempt is made here to balance the print and electronic dimensions of the discipline. Most of the course contents are packaged with the understanding that most of the readers are not professionals in the field of communication but rather beginners.

You are required to have the following to be qualified for this course.

• 5 credits in “O” level credits including Physics, English and Mathematics

• Satisfactory level of English proficiency

• ICT proficiency

The code of this course is MAC 115 while the title is INTRODUCTION TO NEWS REPORTING AND WRITING. This is a course that ushers you into the discipline of NEWS REPORTING AND WRITNG in mass communication and gives you a concise and appreciable understanding of the concept of news reporting in mass communication, its position and role it plays in the media organizations and the society at large. The course is packaged on a global scale with a view to positioning you on a pedestal that would make them at par with any entrant into the field of mass communication anywhere in the world. However, some examples used are typically Nigerian in orientation and setting. Every attempt is made here to balance the print and electronic dimensions of the discipline.
