SEMESTER INTRODUCTION: This course is an analysis, examination and evaluation of public administration at the levels. It intends to acquaint the student, with the history and development of the modern public service in Nigeria. Beyond a mere acquaintance; students after reading this course should understand issues concerning colonialism, de-colonialism, structures and dynamics of government. Other issues the students would know is governmental machinery such as the various arms of government and the relations among them, the statutory role of the military and its problems among others.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES: Students are expected to;
1. Know the meaning and nature of Public Administration
2. Know the history and evolution of the Nigerian public service
3. Know the relationship between the three tiers of government
4. Know the meaning of Inter-Governmental Relations
5. Know the reasons for military intervention in Nigeria
6. Know the problems of public service efficiency
7. Know the meaning and nature of democratic governance in Nigeria
